Schneider Electric launches new £42m plant in Scarborough

The new plant is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of the year, is designed for long-term growth, producing critical electrical equipment and projected to create 200 jobs.

Initially announced in last year, Schneider Electric has invested around $55m (£42m) in the project. Located on a 16,500sqm site, the plant will produce essential electrical equipment to support the UK’s transition to cleaner energy, contributing to the country’s electricity needs which are expected to rise by 40% by 2035.

The local production will enable quicker, customised engineering solutions, allowing customers to collaborate directly with designers at the site. Additionally, the equipment will meet British standards, making it ready for export to Commonwealth markets.
