UK Power Networks appoints Stantec to two new frameworks
Stantec’s Energy teams will be providing extensive technical, advisory, and environmental services for UK Power Networks throughout RIIO-3.
Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design, engineering, and environmental consulting, has been appointed by UK Power Networks to two new multi-year, multimillion-pound energy frameworks. Stantec has secured positions on both the Change Management and Design Services frameworks, as UK Power Networks evolves its electricity networks and improves operational processes across London, the South East, and East of England.
UK Power Networks is the is the largest electricity distribution network operator (DNO) in the UK, distributing power to 8.5 million homes and businesses across 30,000 square kilometres. Stantec will provide extensive technical, advisory, stakeholder engagement, and environmental services for UK Power Networks throughout RIIO-3 period. The Company is already working with UK Power Networks on its Environmental Framework having been appointed in 2025. All three frameworks will run to 2030, with the option to extend after four years.
The Change Management framework will see Stantec work on operational strategy, implementation, and governance projects while leading on stakeholder engagement, training and communication efforts around new internal processes. Stantec’s energy advisory specialists will also support UK Power Networks’ teams with digital transformation endeavours as the DNO looks to boost efficiency across its operations.
Within the Design Services framework, Stantec’s remit includes designing improvements to overhead lines and cables, helping UK Power Networks replace and upgrade aging assets while integrating renewable power sources into its network. Stantec’s experience in stakeholder engagement, proven through its Environmental Services framework, will be harnessed to address the constraints of working in London’s dense urban environment.
